Who We Are:
The Alabama Bonsai Society (ABS) is made up of dedicated bonsai enthusiasts from across the state of Alabama in general and in particular the greater Birmingham area. Our goal is to educate ourselves, potential bonsai enthusiasts, and the general public about the art form known as Bonsai - the ancient Asian art of growing miniature trees. We are very fortunate to have a long standing relationship with Birmingham Botanical Gardens whose facilities we use for our functions. We have monthly meetings and workshops which include activities and educational opportunities with the goal of increasing our knowledge and enjoyment this rewarding endeavor. Throughout the year we offer a series of “Bonsai Basic” classes for our newest members to help introduce them to the basics skills needed to grow beautiful little trees in pots. Several times a year we bring in nationally know bonsai artist who assist members with the styling of their trees. One of the highlights of the year is our annual Spring Bonsai Show held at the Birmingham Botanical Garden.
How to Learn More about Us:
Our meetings and workshops are open to visitors who are interested in Bonsai. Feel free to join us for those activities where you learn more about us and our club. If you would like to join our organization, we welcome new members whether they are experienced bonsai artists or true beginners who have no experience what so ever. You can also learn more about us by navigating the rest of our website. You can register for a user name and password and then use our Forum to ask questions which our members will answer. (No, you don't have to be a member to create your own user name and password.) Once you have a user name and password you can also access our "Contact Us" page to send us an email message to which we can reply to contact you. If you include your telephone number someone will call you to answer your questions. (Don't worry, only a select number of club officers have access to your "Contact Us" email so your personal information will be safeguarded.)
